THE FACING. A field of fifteen fated the starter for the Ihiatoki Plate, a seven furlong flutter at weight for age for maidens. There was nothing very el assy it: the field and While. Crane, who is not too sound, was
started, out as favourite. The start was not too good a one, Opeke, being left arm not biking p.irt in the race, whilit Conney alio dwelt. "Wee Paul, Kuropotangi and White Crane were the first to show out, and they were well clear at the halfmile post. ' Here White. Crane took charge and tlie race from (his stage was all over, the Royal Artillery mare winning very easily by two and a half lengths from Kuropotangi., with Patronymic two lengths away third, followed in order by Wai Ilaeremae. Topic, and Sylvan (.'lade, with other;, looking on. Simple: l!ol) bolted and threw Ids rider, taking no part in the raee.
Prom a fair start in the Stewards' Handicap I'liiosg, Park Tide and lioronia were the first to show out, Phroso and lioronia being fnvot rites. The is-aie was never in doubt, .for though Park Tide hung to the favourite to the disiamethe. ! iiiare came away when called o::. and won easily liy a leng'.h from lioronia. with lloyai'li'i-igooii ':: length ana a half away third.
