Owing to the New Zealand Cricket Association declining to provide £65 for contingent expenses, the New South Wales team's proposed tour of Xew Zealand ha s been abandoned. THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN. Sydney, December 25. The Board of Control has decided not to take evidence publicly in connection with the charges of alleged misconduct of certain members of the Australian eleven. VICTORIA v. NEW SOUTH WALES. Received 20, 0.:i0 p.m. Melbourne, December 20. The wicket was a bit heavy from the overnight's rain. Xew South Walls in the first innings scored 84, Trumper 25, Collins 15, Moore 10 being the chief borers. Victoria has lost nine wickets for 181 runs (Carroll 73, Hansford 37, Bar ing (not out) 30 and Armstrong 15). WANGAXUT DEFEAT NORTH TARANAKI. BY TEN WICKERS. SOME BRILLIANT PLAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The annual representative match, North Taranaki v. Wanganui, resulted in an easy win for Wanganui by ten wickets. Wanganui went to the wickets first and notched 257, Ortoh 05, Bathgate 45, Murchic 30, Furrie 20 and Bracy 24 being the principal scorers. Sarten took five wickets for 41, Gudgeon 2 for 57 Bain 2 for 03, Fuller 1 for 34.
I Taranaki scored 124, Perham 30, Fuller 30, Sommerville 18 were the chief run-getters. Bowling for the home team Vronson secured four wickets for 31. Holland 4 for 54, and Barrett 1 for 2. Taranaki followed on and gave Wanganui some leather hunting, the score reaching 2GS. Greatbatc'h notched 110 in good style by a forceful display, Clegg got 33 (not out), Perham 27, Fuller 18, Sumner 10, Gudgeon 17 and Sommerville 13. Left 130 runs to win and a couple of hours in which to do it, Orton and Murchie opened. Both batsmen, and especially Orton, hatted beautifully, and by fine cricket the required runs were obtained in only forty-three minutes. Orton excelled himself in compiling 89, Murc'hie getting 43. Both were unbeaten. The batsmen received an ovation on their return to the pavillion.
WANG'ANUI JUNIORS v. OROUA.
The annual junior representative match, Wanganui v. Orona, was played to-day, ending in a draw. Wanganui ran up 316 for nine wickets and then declared. Oroua had lost six for 188. when stumps were drawn.
CANTERBURY v. OTAGO, Dunedin, Wednesday. The annual cricket match between Canterbury and Otago commenced today. A shower fell just before noon, but the weather was fine in the afternoon and the wicket and outfield were in godd order. Canterbury won the toss and batted first, but did not make a very good stand, being disposed of for 137. The chief scorers were: Sandman 47, Carlton 30 (not out), Hickmott 17, A. Rees 13. Downes took six wickets for 45 runs, Lawrence two,for 41, Ramsden one for 21, and Eckhoff one for 22. At 5 o'clock Otago had made 43 runs for the loss of one wicket. Hopkins made 30 (not out) and Austin 10. Dunedin, Last Night. The cricket match Canterbury v. Otago was continued to-day in splendid weather and on a good wicket. When play ceased yesterday Otago had made 137 for 0 wickets in their first innings. This was increased to 204 before the last wicket fell, the chief scorers being Ramsden 74 (not out), Hopkins 43, McFarlane 29, Siedeberg 20. Sandman took 4 wickets for 66, Reese 3 for 49, Carlton •2, for 30 and Hickmott 1 for 15. Canterbury, whose first innings realised 137 runs, have lost six wickets for 226 in
the second innings. Hayes 57, Patrick 52 (not out), Reese 20, Sims 20, Caygill 18, Carlton 17, Sandman 15 (not out). MARLBOROUGH v. NELSON. Blenheim, Last Night. In this match which commenced today, Nelson scored 348, the principal corers being Ross 64, Haycock 58, Mead (not out) 83, Ross 21, Beusemann 27, extras 21. Goulding took six wickets for 93. Marlborough have lost 1 wicket for 70. Mills (not out) 30, Haycock 20, extras 25. HAWKE'S BAY v. N.S.W. TEACHERS. Napier, Last Night. The New South Wales teachers defeated Hawke's Bay at Hastings by four wickets. Hawke's Bay scored 162 runs (Board 37, Smyrk 34, Brownett 24) and 160 (Board 42, Creed 24, Boultois 28 and 6, Brien 20). The visitors scored 221 after losing the first six wickets for 50 (Rose 70, M'Mullen 51) and six for 102 (Harvey 45, Smith 21).
