The magistrates have protested against the Home Office's unusttal tribunal in the Knox case, whereby a magistrate of equal standing to themselves investigated -the case. They declare that the Home Office Commissioner displayed more of the advocate than the magistrate. AN ECHO OP THE COAL STRIKE. Sydney, December 24. During coal strike three years s|dHHolliery Employees' Fedmines, intending thereby to assist the strike funds. The Railway Commissioner, however, commandeered the coal and the owners of mines declined to pay the wages of 300 miners. Financial complications followed. The Government has decided to end the protracted negotiations by paying the men's claims, totalling £12,000.
