NEW PLYMOUTH. Mails will close (subject to alterations) at the Chief Post Office, New Plymouth, as under:— For Auckland and North, per steamer, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at 7 p.m.; and daily, per train, at 6.15 a.m. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26. For Australian States, South Africa, India, China, Japan, Ceylon, Straits Settlements, Eastern and Mediterranean ports, United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, at 8 a.m. (Money Orderi close at 4 p.m. Tuesoay). Unless otherwise specified, Money Orders and registered letters close one hour before the ordinary mail. CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT. Postal branch.—Wednesday, December 25, and January 1 (Christmas Day and New Year's Day) will be observed ai close holidays. On Thursday, December 28 (Boxing Day), the Post Ofice will bs open in all branches, except Money Order and Savings Bank, from 0 a.m. to 10 a.m. Telegraph Office.—The Telegraph Office will be open on Wednesday, the 2Jtk inst. (Christmas Day) from 9.30 to 10 a.m. and from 5 to 5.30 p.m. On Thursday (Boxing Day) and Wednesday (New Year's Day), the hours will be fro»t 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight. Telephone Exchange.—The Telephone Exchange will remain open continuously. Private box lobby.—Sunday hour* will be observed on December 25 and January 1; usual hours on December 28. Mails.—The usual despatch of all Mails will be made up to 8 a.m. on eaeh of the holidays; receiver*, and posting boxes will be cleared accordingly. Travelling Post Office will rum a* wual. Counter.—Delivery of town letters (ordinary and registered) will be mad* on Tuesday evenings, 24th and Slit inst, from 8 to 9 p.m. Carriers' deliveries.—One full delivery by letter-carriers will be made on th» 66th inst., commencing at 7.50 a.m. SPECIAL FORM OF TELEGRAPH MESSAGE. In order to facilitate the traasmissioa by telegraph of Christmas and New Year's greetings, special printed forms •ontaining the message "Wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year" may be obtained at the Telegraph Office for use on the following dates: 19th, 80th, 21st, 23rd, 24th, 2«th, 27th, 28th, 30th and Slat December. A uniform charge of sixpence for eaek such telegram will be made, providtd the address and signature do not contain more than e'even words.
