TARIFF REFORM.

THE UNIONIST POLICY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. (Received Dec. 23, 11.25 p.m.) London, December 23. Under Lord Derby's chairmanship three hundred delegates of the Lancashire Unionists' Association discussed the party differences behind closed doors, and then adjourned until January 11. Lord Derby said that the differences can be adjusted. ' The Glasgow Herald says that if the Imperial conference expressed a wish for preference to be granted in other form than food taxes the Unionist Government must seek another way. Most Unionists would prefer that. The Irish Times says that Lord Lansdowne and Mr. Bonar Law have decreed that the general election will be fought on tariff reform, not Home Rule. The leaders had queered the electoral outlook, which had changed from a certainty to a very alarming uncertainty.
