There was an attempted bomb assassination of Lord Hajdinge, Govevnor-Gen-erral of India, oil his state entry to the new capital. Lord Hardinge was wounded, An <\ an attendant killed. The Viceroy's elephant in the procession left the station and was passing through (ihandiehov/k when a man on a housetop threw a powerful bomb, striking the Viceroy's how.l.ili and wounding his shoulder. 'J'U attendant holding an umbrella was killed. The Viceroy was taken to the hospital. ' Lady Hardinge wag much shaken.
