It is estimated that £2,500,000 will be expended on toys in London, £l,000,000 on jewellery, £500,000 on wines and liqueurs, £500,000 on books, and £500,000 oh other presents. Compared with 1911 the increase in letters for abroad is 1.000,000. those for" Australia showing 558,000 increase, and those to New Zealand 142,000. 4 There is a record influx of Britishers from America and Canada, every liner •being crowded. (Received Dec. 23, 11.20 p.m.) • Sydney, December 23. There has been a great rush of Christmas visitors, and tradesmen have done exceptionally good business. It is estimated that generally prices for Christmas goods are about 25 per cent, above last year.
