The weather was good. The Englishmen won all the matches. The best game was between C. P. Dixon, the English captain, and J. C. Ollivier, the latter playing well ii]) to form, and serving beautifully. Dixon was more consistent and won 7—5, C-3. F. G. Lowe beat J. C. Peacocke, «—4, o—2. J. C. Parke beat It. N. K. Swanston, o—o, (I—3. Beamish beat F, M. B. Fisher 6—4, C—3, Dixon and Parke beat Fisher and Ollivier, (I—l, (I—o. Parke and Beamish beat Peacoke and Swanston 7.5, 10—5. The visitow were too strong for the New Zealandere. who, with the exception of Ollivier, never seemed to trouble them seriously. The New Zealand champion's service puzzled his opponents often. Swanston and Peacocke put up a dogged fight against Parke and Beamish, but the score makes the game appear closer than it really was. Parke's play was the feature of the day. eßamUh at times was brilliant, particularly on back-hand crosscourt shots. Fisher, the New Zealand captain, was very disappointing, lack of practice being plainly evident. Furi thcr matches will be played on Monday.
