IMPERIAL POLITICS.
THE DISESTABLISHMENT BILL. NATIONAL ENDOWMENTS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, December 20. An .amendment to leave the glebes to the church caused a heated debate, and was rejected by 277 to 222. Thirty Liberals abstained from voting, a. fact which caused prolonged Opposition cheers. The clause was guillotined and carried. The disestablishment campaign committee at Cardiff indignantly protests at the Government surrender of national endowments without consulting the Welsh Parliamentary Party. It also resents the action of English Liberals in forcing the Government's hands. It is understood that the committee of inquiry into Mr. Stuart Samuel's case considers it should be referred to the Law Courts or a special tribunal. \Reccived 22, 5.5 p.m. London, December 21. The Welsh National Council adopted a resolution protesting against the Government's concession of the disendowment clause of the Disestablishment Bill, declaring that if any further concessions were made it would alienate the support of the Welsh Liberals. THE INSURANCE ACT. London, December 20. The National Practitioners' Association has circularised doctors, asking whether the more worthy members would encourage gross intimidation being exercised to prevent doctors serving under the Insurance Act.
