ARBITRATION COURT.
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, December 20. The Arbitration Court to-day heard the compensation claim Dougherty v. Milne, claim for £SOO, in connection with the death of plaintiff's husband at Wyndham, on April 8. Deceased had been commissioned by Milne, his employer, to inspect a horse with a view to purchase, and while walking along the railway line on the way to inspect the animal he was struck by an engine and killed. The defence contended that the accident did not arise out of deceased's employment, and that the act of ueceased in walking on the railway line was obviously dangerous and unnecessary. The court expressed the opinion that the accident arose in the course of deceased's employment, but decision was reserved.
