LINCOLN* ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) We have had splendid weather this last fortnight, it has been very acceptable, and will tend to make the "cockies" round here in a good humour for Christmas. What with the wretched spring and a slight financial stringency, the prospects were none too good, even for the dairy farmer.
Those farmers who go in for a 'little fruit-growing can now see that the severe hail storms in the spring have practically stripped the plum trees, and this fruit will 110 doubt be very scarce this summer. The apple trees, coming into blossom later, as they did, missed the hail, and should be sis abundant as ever. Miss Mcston, our teacher' has returned from 'her trip to Perth, Western Australia. and enjoyed the trip immensely. 1 She informed the writer that harvesting was all finished there when she left. There are not many green fields round about Perth, and if you want a lawn in front of your house you have to plant the grass in rows, as it is mostly sand and rock in the, immediate vicinity, and only a special kind of grass will grow. Our school breaks up for the holidays on Friday, and the prizes will be distri-. buted in the -presence of the parents and members of the committee. The Bristol Boad Cricket Club held its annual meeting, and among other things it was decided to put down a clay pitch. Mr. Tom Clarke, of the Bristol road, recently met with a painful accident by chopping half his ■ thumb off. An accijdent of this kind is very awkward for a J milker at this time of the year.
