LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Larnl Board met ycslc.ilay, when there were present the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. G. 11. Jin Hard), and Messrs. J. ITeslop and J. Rattenlmrv. SL'I3-LEASK. Application was made 'by C. M. Hawken to sublet sections 3, 5 and 10, block XIV.. Waro, to R. and A. .McMillan, was deferred for further consideration at the last meeting of the Board.--Ranger Twiss submitted a leport and explained the position, and it was decided to approve the sub-lease. 011 the understanding that it was a temporary lease which the Board would not renew. TRANSFERS.
Transfers were approved as follow---A. 11. Perry (sub-lessee) to G. E. Willis, section 2, block XIV., Pouatu; L. J. Lloyd to P. 11. Watts, section !), block 111., Aria, and section, block VIII., Waro; T. Murdoek and L. Liiul to the Cardiff Co-operate Dairy Factory Company, Limited, half-acre of section 57, block 1., Nmire; Albert Paulger to Tlenru Turelii, section fl, block X 1... C'ape: P. and K. T. Gvde to F. ffyde, section 1, block XT., Egmont; T. E. Lawrence to A. J. and E. Higgins, sections 9 and 10, block V., Ngatimaru; .1. Clarke to C Callagh-:in, sections 1 to 10, block 40, Opnmtke Town; W. T. Coad to A. W. Phillips, sections 520 and 521, New Plymouth; James Taylor to Wm. W. Lees, sections 15 and 17. block 11., Pouatu.
C. Tlandlev applied to transfer section S, block VI., Upper Waitara to R. T), Rogers .nd C. A. Tlamerton. on the grounds of ill-health.—The proposed transferees already hold 843 acres, and it was resolved to decline (lie application and give he sel'ctor twelve months to find a landless person to whom he could transfer.
j DEFAULTING SELECTORS. The selectors of section 5, block VII., Aria, were given until July 31, 1013, to complete deficient improvements, while it was decided to call the attention of t'he selector of section 5, block ITT., Waro. to the deficient improvements anil wari) him that the obligations of his lease must be fulfilled.
Tt was decided to take no action in the meantime in the case of non-resi-dence on section 26, block VTTT., Ngaire. as the lessor expected to resume residence in Janaury.
Tt war, decided to cancel the interest of the selector of section fl. block 1. Tangitu, and re-offer the land for selection, and similar action was decided upon in the case of the selector of section 3, •block. XV., Ohura. Upon the selector attending and submitting an explanation, it was decided to rescind the forfeiture of section 25, block 1, Tangitu. PURCHASE OF FREEHOLD. Two applications were granted for the purchase of the freehold of the lease in perpetuity; one in favour of N. P. Rickard for section 10, block XL, Minii, and the other in favour of D. Eraser for -section 12. block XT., Mimi. IMPROVED FARM LEASES. The issue of leases to the following improved farm settlers was approved:— Section 0. block NT., Mnpara, P. Baer; section 17, block XTI., Mnpara, C. P. Tullocli; section !), block 1., Tangitu. J. 11. Brown; section 2. block NIL. Mapara, J. G. Small; section 1, block VII., Mapara, E. Miller: section 5. block 11., Tangitu, S. P. Good; section 4, block 11., Tangitu, W. P. Carrington; section 3. block 1., Tangitu, C. F. Messenger; section 23, block IV.. Totoro, G. Laurenson; section 5, block XV., W. Heath. GENERAL.
An application by Messrs. Law for the freehold of section 9, block 11., Mahoe, was approved. It was decided to approve of Mrs. A. Shivaan's application for section 24, block XL, Mapara.
Consent was asekd to an alteration in the area of section 10, block VT.. Ngatimaru, due to the exclusion of land taken for a road.—Approved. Proposals for the expenditure of I birds were approved as follow: —Wairoa Road Board £39 Is 3d, Motoroa 'Road Board fl 3s lOd, Hawera County Council £55 18s lid.
A motion was passed, confirming tlie resolution passed at tlx; lust meeting in regard to the subdivision and transfer of part of the land included in the E. 11. Lease 173, held by A. 11. T. .Tones.
A. L. Humphries applied to build on and improve section 543, Xew Plymouth. —Approved. A schedule of reports made by Ranger Tolme showed that he had inspected 21 holdings on which improvements to the value of £27o(> were required and on which he found improvements amounting to £8725 had been effected. All the selectors had fulfilled their conditions except one who was £5 short of his improvements. The application liv Jno. Willcock to purchase section 23. Waitara, West,, suburban area, comprising <> acres odd, at present held on yearly tenancy by liorthwielc and Sons, Limited, iv.'in held over for the ranger's report. It was decided to offer part section 1, block lir., Totoro, for selection under part 111. of the Land Act, 1908, at £2 an acre. The application by W. TT. Wallace for a lease of 38 acres odd'of the closed road adjoining section 41. block \'L Xcatimaru, was left in the hands of the Commissioner. One tender, that of David Paul, of Waitara, who tendered at £2 10s per annum, was received for the lease of an island in the Waitara River for a period of five years, and the Commissioner was empowered to accept this under conditions to be specified. Subject to a. revaluation of the area it was decided to approve of the proposal to amend the boundaries of a piece of land in section 20, block XV., Aria, granted to 0. R. Mossinan in October. The Board approved of the proposal that a section in the Rpoiswood Settlement be offered for selection ill allotments.
