THE ADMIRALTY BOARD. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, December 15. The Morning Post has high authority for stating that the Board of Admiralty recently tendered its resignation on the subject of pay and manning. Mr. Churchill consulted with the Prime Minister, with the result that an increase in pay was announced. Admiral Bridgeman has refused the konor of being made Admiral of the Fleet.
ADMIRAL BRIDGBMAN'S RETIREMENT. London, December 15. The Observer authoritatively states that illness compelled Admiral Sir S. F. Bridgeman to be absent for weeks when the international situation was critical. Mr. Churchill had no alternative but to suggest his resignation. The Observer adds that Admiral Bridgeman's declining promotion was absurd. SPEECH BY MR. CHURCHILL. London, December 15. Mr. Churchill, addressing London naval reservists, said that the Admiralty would use the reservists if necessary for the front line. The country was now passing through an interesting period. Its prosperity was great and its colonies were drawing closer. Ambassadors were meeting to narrow the scope of the war. The navy was playing a vital part, doing more than any other agency to bind the colonies together, leading not merely to national safety but to Imperial union. THE TWO-POWER STANDARD. London, December 15. The ObserTer advocates a two-Power standard, inclusive of overseas vessels.
