The House is considering Bills to repeal the sugar excise and bounty. Power is retained to put the Rills into effect upon proclamation. Mr. Tudor explained that they would be proclaimed as soon as New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland passed legislation enacting the re«ommendations of the Sugar Commission. It is estimated that the loss of revenue through the repeal will be £200,000 per annum for a few years, and will then increase to £250,000. The import duty will still remain in force.
