DISTRICT NEWS.

TARfRi. The line spell of dry weather we are enjoying is being taken every advantage of by fanners, who arch usy preparing turnip ground, and a considerable area has already been sown. Pastures, owing to the heavy dews, are looking well and feed is plentiful. In fact, on some sections it is going to waste. This is especially noticeable on the Ross road, where there is an extent of first-class dairying country practically lying idle. In reporting the result of the shooting match for Mr. R. J. Hancock's silver tea-pot, which appeared in your issue, of the flth inst., I find some minor details were slightly incorrect. Mr. Thompson, the winner of the trophy, lias not notified his intention of entertaining his fellow competitors with a tea party, and neither he nor 1 any of the other marksmen referred to, though strictly temperate in their habits, are teetotallers.
