Marton, Last Night, The second day of the Rangitikei races was held in beautiful weather. The course was hard and fast and the attendance good. The totalisator turnover for -the two days was £21,100, against £14,819 for the last New Year meeting. Results:— Rangitoto Hack Handicap, of 90 sovs; six furlongs. —Manakau, 8.3, 1; Alec to, 7.5, 2; Red Lupin, 7.5, 3. Lady Louisa 8.12, Jack Pin 7.12, and Missile 7.H) also started.". From a good start Manakau and Alecto went to the front, and led throughout, Manakau winning by two lengths. Time, lmin losec. Clifton Handicap, of 110 sovs; seven furlongs.—Mon Ami, 8.0, 1; Rangiatua, 7.12, 2; Dearest, 9.1, 3. Red Lupin 7.5 also started. Won easily by two lengths, with Dearest half a. length away. Time, lmin 28 2-ssw.
Samlon Hurdles, of 100 sovs; one and a hfllf miles.—Chief Marshall, 9.10, 1; Sleacombe, 9.9, 2; Waiaio, 9.5, 3. Bollin 10.8, Leolanter 10.0, Sandy Paul 9.8, and Rendrock 9.0 also started. Won by two lengths, with Waiaio two lengths away third. Time, 2min 51 2-ssec. Ngatiapa Hack Hurdles, of 95 sovs: one mile and a half.—Flingot, 10.13. 1; Whimper, 9.3, 2; Sunrose, 9.0, 3. Moahau 10.5, St. Felix 9.0, Trekker 9.0, and Chief Officer 9.0 also started. Won by a neck, with Sunrose half a length away third. Time, 2min 1 2-ssee. Greatford Stakes, of 175 sovs: one mile and a distance.—Mendip, 8.3, ]: Bonnie Bo.y, 7.5, 2; Labour Day, 8.2, 3. Master Laddo 7.10, Ngatimaru 7.10, Royal Marine 7.3, Waipaku 7.3, Goodwin Park 7.1, Otahu 7.1 and Aloha 0.11. also started. Won by half a length, .with Labor Day third half a length away. Won by a long neck, with the third horse a length away. Time, lmin 28 2-ssec. Pukehou Scurry, of 80 sovs; five furlongs.—Patronale, 8.10, 1; Heather, 7.0, 2; War Queen, 8.5, 3. Hamurami 7.11, Lord Lupin 7.2, Hapingo 7.0, Fionarea 7.0, The Diver 7.0, Tamakua 7.0. and Ruapuhi 7.0 also started. Won by a good length. Time, lmin Msec.
