WHITELEY MEMORIAL CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. The Sunday School Anniversary services in connection with the Whiteley Memorial Church were conducted on .Sunday morning and evening by the Rev. J. W. Burton, and in the afternoon by the Rev. F. Hale. They were largely attended, the Church being crowded. The singing of the children was a special feature, and considerable credit is due to Mr. G. 11. White for the manner in which he had trained them. Miss May Oanncll presided at the organ, and Mr. L. Bullot at the piano. The anniversary celebrations were continued last night with a public tea at six o'clock, at which about 200 children and their parents and friends sat down to well-laden tables. At 7.30 o'clock tike public meeting was" held, the Rev. J. W. Burton presiding. It took the form of a school concert, the programme being provided by the children. A special action song was rendered by the Vogeltown children. The prizes for the past year were presented by the Rev. W. Canncll, and the secretary (Mr. Okey) read the report for the year, which showed that in spite of the break-ing-ofl' of the Vogeltown Sunday School, there had been an increase in the number of scholars. The treasurer (Mr. F. W. Okey) read the financial report in which it was stated that over £SO had been received during the year for Sunday School purposes. Of this sum £32 had been spent, leaving a credit balance of £lB.
The Superintendent (Mr. C. Carter) spoke of the. progress of the school and of the satisfactory work of the teachers. On his motion a very comprehensive vote of thinks was accorded all those who had helped to make the anniversary such a success.
