DOMINION CEMENT COMPANY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dominion Portland Cement Company, Ltd., with a capital of £250,000, was held to-day, when shares comprising the minimum subscription were allotted. Four additional directors were appointed: Messrs. T. Buxt'on, M.P. (Temuka), Robert McNab (Palmerston North), Vernon Reed, M.P. (Bay of Islands), and Geo. Winstone (Auckland).

WANGANUI ITEMS. Wanganui, Last Night. To-day is the fourth anniversary of the installation of the trams ill Wanganui. During that period 5,754,3-19 passengers were carried. 788,500 car miles run, and the revenue amounted to £40,492. At a meeting attended by twenty-two citizens resolutions were carried similar to those passed at Christchurch and Wellington, protesting against the' introduction of the Bible into schools.

SEARCH FOR LIGHTHOUSE SITE Wellington, Last Night,

The Minister of Marine and a part;' of marine experts visited Cape Terawhiti, Tongue Point and Karori Rock to-day, to study which is the most suitable spot for a new light. Though no official' pronouncement is made, it is understood that the general opinion of the party favored Karori Rock as the best location. On the rock a strong stone tower could be erected and fitted with an automatic light.

CUSTOMS PROSECUTION. Auckland, Tuesday. In 'the Police Court, Frank Kendall, of Rendall, Ltd., was fined £SO for making an incorrect declaration of the value of a parcel of gloves imported through tho post office, representing the value at £26 17s, instead of £SO 15s (id. Defendant explained that the error arose through his having be,en given in mistake an invoice for a similar package of goods previously passed. The Magistrate accepted the explanation, but remarked that the revenue must'be protected, and imposed the half penalty provided.
