FIRES.
The Inglewood Record reports that a fire occurred at Mr. Hall's house at Maketawa 011 .Sunday evening, shortly before nine o'clock, when the house and contents were completely destroyed. The family, who were svway from home at the time, had gone out leaving, as is gonerally usual, the lire alight on the hearth, and that was evidently the. source of the conflagration, as the fire was very fully established when first seen, and was in the centre of the building in the vicinity of the double chimney. As the fire had a good hold when discovered there was no hope for extinguishment, from the first, and nothing could be done hut practically to watch it burn.
