Until -the lire stopped traffic was interrupted on the Metropolitan- Railway and' several tramways. Portions of Paris were without light for some hours. BANK MANAGER'S DEFALCATIONS. Hclsingfors, December 8. # Idman, manager of the Foerening's Bank, has been arrested for forgery and embezzlement. The bank lost £200,000 apart from funds in private accounts. A VrVISECTIONIST PROTEST. Copenhagen, December 8. The Scandinavian Anti-vivisection Society has protested against Professor Carrel receiving the Nobel medical prize. The society accuses Dr. Carrel of cruelty as a vivisoctionist. BRITISH TRADE. London, December 8. The imports for November increased by £5,601,05!) and exports by £3,371,i 996 compared with the previous November.
