RIFLE SHOOTING.
DEFENCE CLUB'S CHAMPIONSHIP. The first of the series of matches for the Defence Hide Club's Championship Shield commenced on the ltewa Rewa range yesterday afternoon. The conditions were generally "favourable. The ranges were 300 and 500 yards, 10 shots Lit each, and the shooting was fairly even taking it riglit through, although Winslade early established a lead, which he maintained throughout the whole of the afternoon. Under the conditions it was not had shotting. Results:—
The match will be completed to-mor row, vhen the Saturday men will shoot.
