NELSON HARBOR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. The Nelson Harbor Board has decided to take a poll of tlio ratepayers on the proposal to carry out the works recommended by R. M. Holmes, enginoer-in-chief of the Marine Department, at a cost of about £IO,OOO, to improve the harbor by dredging, and widening the entrance to enable the port to be worked freely by larger ocean liner*.

FORESTERS' CONFERENCE. Mastcrton, Last Night. The triennial Wellington District Conference of Foresters opened here to-day. The whole day was occupied in a discussion of the proposal for the consolidation of the sick and funeral funds, which was eventually thrown out by a small majority. The delegates were banquetted to-night.
