CIVIL SERVICE SPORTS. Br Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. At the Civil Service sports yesterday J. E. Holmes, of the local police force, while engaged with A. McHugh in a wrestling bout, fell and broke his left arm just above the elbow. Holmes was a competitor at the 1908 Olympic Games. Bissett, the hammer-thrower, threw 132 feet (i inches, beating the Australasian i record by 3 feet 7 inches. j AMERICAN TEAM WITHDRAWN. Wellington, Tuesday. Mr, Talbot, secretary to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, has received a cable from Mr. Uniaek, who was arranging for an athletic team from
America to visit Australia and New Zealand, saying that owing to the withdrawal of a prominent member of the team, it has been found necessary to abandon the tour this season.
