( The idea of Brookes' defeat was never seriously entertained. Sporting Life praises Parke's victory. The return of the Cup to England would increase interest in the contests. Possibly Brookes and Wilding would regain it.

THE BRITISH TEAM. Melbourne, December 8. The British tennis plnyrs have bees widely congratulated on their victory! After the match against New South Wales, they will meet Oueensland on December 13 and 14. Thence they proceed to New Zealand.

The chances of sending a team to England to recover the Cup are already being discussed. Brookes a>i<? Heath will probably be able to go. Business will prevent Dunlop.
