A conference of the two Houses on the Gas Bill resulted in a compromise, the Assembly giving way "to several of the Council's material amendments, including 3= (Id in the standard price. The Council adopted the report of the conference. In the Assembly, Mr. Carmichael, who had charge of the Bill, intimated that the agreement was unaccountable to him, but would be allowed to stand over.
