PUKEKURA PARK BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The I'llkeklira I'ark Board met last evening, ilie chairman (Mr. C. W. Govctt) presiding. Other members present were: Messrs. G. W. Browne, W. Newman and K. 0. Hughes. In a report covering the last two months, the curator (Mr. W. W., Smith) stated that work during that period had been in the main confined to mowing grass, grubbing fennel and cleaning and burning rubbish. Five days were devoted to cutting the pond weed, which was very prolilic this season. The work of forming the new walk leading from tho Vogeltown entrance down to the head of the lake, and thence from the upper bridge over tho liill to the racecourse gate, would be completed this week. Messrs. Cooper Bros.' offer to paint the tea rooms in the gardens free of (•barge was accepted with thanks. The secretary of the Recreation Ground Sports Committee wrote suggesting that the full 20 per cent, to be deducted from the takings of the Maori sports meeting on December 19 on the Sports Ground be paid to the Board, but that the equivalent of this amount be deducted from the rent now owing by the Board to the committee—The request was agreed to, provided the committee colleets the amount.
The committee at present owes the Board some £7O in rent.
Mr. R. Cock was appointed visitor to the park for the ensuing month. Through the curator, a donation of £1 Is was received from an anonymoui donor in ChristehurcV.
Mr. Russell Blow, tourist agent at Rotorua, applied to purchase a pair of white swans for the Rotorua Gardens, The Board has none available for sale.
