RAILWAY LEAGUE.
WESTERN TAI'ANAKI RAILWAY LEAtiUE.
The committee of tin- -Western Taranaki Railway League met at the secretary's office "last night, Mr. A. H. Johnstone occupying the chair. The secretary reported that',only ft comparative few had joined the League so far, and that steps would have to he taken to make the membership wider, especially in view of important matters now pending. Messrs. Johnstone, Johns, E. ?. Webster, and T'enn were chosen nf delegates to the meeting, of the Railway League at Oakura on Thursday evening.
A Statistics Committee was formed of Messrs. OrilTiths. Penn, Shaw and the Chairman to gather and classify information re rates, stock, roading, port charges, values, native lands, tonnages, etc.. as affecting the district. II was decided to communicate with the Minister for . Lands re his proposed twp to the district, and to ascertain through 7*l r. Okev. M.P.. information re the movements of Ministers from time to time.
A membership campaign was started and districts allotted. Arrangements affecting meetings, etc., were also decided upon.
