THE WOOL SALES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received I!, 0.5 p.m. London, December 2. The wool sales are spirited and all classes show a hardening tendency. 27,790 'bales were catalogued and 26,851 sold. By Telegraph —Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The Napier wool sales were held today, when 13,809 bales were offered, as against 12,930 for the corresponding sale last year. There was a record attendance of buyers from all parts. Competition was keen and practically all offerings sold. Prices were extremely satisfactory to growers and show a marked increase on last year's rates. The highest price for best halfbred was 14d, and there was a strong demand for all crossbreds, which showed a substantial advance. The range of prices was as follows, the 1911 quotations being given in parentheses:—Best halfbred, 11 y 2 d to 14d (10>/,cl to 11 3 /, d): medium halfbred. IOVUI to 13y,<1 (9%d to r<)t/.d); fine crossbred, 12d to 13 1 /, d (9V!;<l to 10y>d); medium crossbred, lOd to ll%d (9d to lOd); coarse crossbred, 9y,d to 10% d (7%d to 9d); inferior crossbred. B%d to 9d (7d to 7%d); pieces, 7%d to 10% d (6%d to 9d); bellies, 7d to B%d (f>y 2 d to OV 2 d); locks,Tfd to fid (2y.d to 4(1); lambs, up t,o 10y 2 d (7d to 8d); dead wool. 7 1 /.d to !)d (7d to 7%a). The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable advice from its London branch:—Current prices for North Island farmers' lots: Coarse crossbreds, 30s to 40s; quality, average con- j dition, 10y 2 d to lid; medium crossbreds, ; 44s to 40s, lid to ll%d; fine erossbreds, ■ GOs to 04s. 12(1 to 13d. : I THE POTATO MARKET.
