It appears that West Avreltalia has added to her already gi'Cat wooded wealth by the discovery 'of ebony. A party has, a report from Perth states, proceeded to Parry Harbor, in the Great Korth-weSt, to procure a load of the timber. Ebony may be found at many places along the coast, but does not appear to extend any distance inland. The wood does not exceed lOin in diameter, aiul about 30 per cent, of the trpes do not contain any ebony. About 15 per 1 cent, only contains good, sound ebony, and about 50 per cent, is damaged by ants and water rats, but 75 per cent, of the ebony could be used for small articles, such as keys for musical instruments, knife handles, and other things. Ebony is the heart of the timber, unci varies in size from .an inch to Oin in diameter. About 40 per cent, does not exceed 3in.
