ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
I MISSING. By Telegraph—Press Association. We*iport, Thursday. Thomas Stewart, a seaman on the steamer Canopus, missing since Tuesday week, is supposed to have been drowned in the Buller river. DEAD BODY FOUND. Gore, Thursday. Roderick Cleaver, aged 25, was found shot in the Waikaia Bush, not far from his camp, yesterday. He had evidently been dead for some time. Cleaver left his camp on the 18th, and had not been seen since. Deceased, who was a native of London, came to the Dominion six years ago.
A SUICIDE'S FAREWELL. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. C. C. Graham, coroner, held an inquiry this afternoon concerning the death of Stephen Hairington, 19 years of age, who was found dead, hanging from the rafters of a stable yesterday, at his father's farm, at Shiel Ilill, Anderson's Bay. The following note, written in pe.ncil, was found in his bedroom by his father:—'• Dear father, lam tired of the world, and it gives me pain to think that you have done so much for me and have been so good a father to me, so goodbye to Renie and yourself. I am, your son Steve/' The evidence submitted showed that deceased had been in good spirits and apparently, had no worries. The coroner said that'there was no doubt that this was a case of suicide by hanging while in a temporary state of insanity.
