The Government Meteorologist issued the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary: There • lias been considerable rain on the eastern V coasts of both islands, and cloudy and '" unsettled weathe: has been experienced generally. Moderate to strong southerly • winds bave predominated, the barometer i-being higher ; n the south than in the ■ nortli. Forecast: Present indications are '• for moderate to strong and variable winds, with southerly and south-easterly --breezes predominating, and cloudy and misty weather with showers, probably -'.making a brief improvement shortly. ■ The barometer is unsteady, with a rising : tendency at present, but a low-pressure , 4 area is due to pass in the south about • Sunday night.
