DROWXED IX A RIVER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Carterton, Tuesday. Xews was received at Carterton this morning of the death by drowning of William Burch, of Greytown. The deceased was" a young man. He was returning to Greytown from Masterton through Gladstone. At the back of the Papawi it was necessary to cross the Ruamahunga river, which was swollen. His companions urged him not to go, but deceased ventured the trip and was' drowned. The body has not yet been recovered.

LYSOL POISOXIXG. Auckland, Tuesday. Susan Emily Smith, aged -M, was found dead by her husband behind her residence, Grey Lynn, with an empty lysol bottle alongside her. She had frequent periods of depression, owing to an incurable malady. Deceased owned two shops in Victoria street.
