The proceedings brouylit by the Crown against the Colonial Sugar Company and the merchants for an alleged breach of the Commercial Trusts Act, were continued to-day. when the Attorney-Gen-eral resumed his opening address.' Voluminous extracts from 'letters sent by tin; Sugar Company and Merchants' Association were read. The case is likely to last for some days. After Mr. Ilcrdm'an had concluded his opening statement, counsel for the different defendants put in objections to certain documents being admitted as evidence, and as to the admissibility of the minutes of the Merchants' Association prior to the Commercial Trusts Act coming into force. Sir John Kindlay said that he desired this point settled now, as it affected tke witnesses to be. called.
Tlu< Chief Justice reserved his decision on the point (.ill next morning, and the Court rose till then.
