The Thunderer, using Scott's director at 10,000 yards, with 13.5 guns, scored 41 hits out of 50 shots. The Thunderer previously scored 37 hits out of 50 shots. An earlier record of the Orion's was 24 hits out of 30 shots at 6500 yards.
DISSATISFIED BLUEJACKETS. Received 25, 10.45 p.m. London, November 25. Lord Beresford, speaking at Liverpool, said that the bluejackets are dissatisfied at not being properly paid, and the best men are leaving in hundreds.
THE TELEPHONE INVENTOR. Received 25, 10.45 p.m. Paris, November 25. The death is recorded of Charles Borsvel, aged 83. He was poor and unknown. He discovered the principal of the telephone.
AN EXPLOSION AVERTED. Received 25, 10.45 p.m. Paris, November 25. While the naval cadets cruising at Jeandarc the power grew overheated, and this resulted in a fire. Witft great difficulty an officer and a sailor flooded the magazines, averting a disaster. All the ammunition was jettisoned.
ROYALTY TO VISIT PARIS. Received 25, 10.45 p.m. Paris, November 25. The Daily Telegraph's Paris correspondent says that King George and Queen Mary will officially visit Paris in April. '
A SERIOUS CHARGE. Napier, Last Night. Harry Aeneas Mcintosh Murison appeared at the Police Court on remand, charged with having unlawfully supplied a .young woman with a noxious drug in order to procure abortion. Accused was committed for trial. Bail was allowed, and was forthcoming.
TRAMWAY DEBENTURES. Invercargill, Last Night.
The Invercargill Borough Council today placed a parcel of tramway electric lighting debentures, which were sold at £99 10s. The debentures have a currency of seventeen years, and bear interest at 4Va per eent., with a sinking fund of one per eent.
A SUICIDE. Received 25, 9 p.m. Sydney, November 25. At the adjoavned inquest on Bartholomew the police investigations failed to produce fresh material evidence. A doctor deposed that the fatal shot was fired by a revolver pressed to the breast. A verdict of suicide was returned.
THE CINEMATOGRAPH PANIC. Received 20. 12.25 a.m. Madrid. November 25. Fifty children were killed, but only one woman, though a large number of women were injured. The operator saw a film burst into flame, and cried "Fire!" He succeeded in extinguishing it. The owners and officials have been arrested.
