Received 24, 5.5 p.m. I Melbourne, November 24. lhe Victorian tennis championship meeting drew a large attendance. The weather was cold. In the semi-final for the singles, Lowe boat Marsh, 7—5, o—4, G—4. In the final, Parke beat Lowe, S—B, G—o, o—2. Parke was superior from the base line. Lowe was wearied by the semi-final doubles. In the semi-final, Dunlop and Brookes beat Heath and Lycett, o—4, o—2, 6—l. There was considerable interest, as the winners are likely to . meet the Britishers in tlje contest for the Davis Cup. Brookes' play was magnificent. In the final. Brookes and Dunlop beat Parke and Beamish, G—2, 6—4, 6 —4. The Victorians played splendidly together, frequently surmounting seemingly impossible difficulties. In the second set lihe Victorians quickly ran to 3—o, and the spectators thought the match would soon end. The third set saw a magnificent rally by Dunlop,! who was brilliant. Dunlop served extremely well in the last two sets into the corners, and along the lines, keeping the Britishers always moving. lie skilfullv avoided Beamish's strong back-hand strokes. Brookes was in his best form. Beamish was slow, his form breaking down frequently. On the volley Parke was the better of the pair.
