Lowe's length throughout was superior, but Rice put more weight into his strokes. Lowe's service was excellent. His work on the heavy court indicated that the Britishers' chances are distinctly good if similar conditions prevail in the cup matches. CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Beamish and Park beat Wright and Jones, fi—4, 6-2, 2—6, 6—4. _ The winners are a fine double. Beamish lias an effective return of the sen ice, and his back hand and smashing are good. Park showed clever driving, both in the return of the service and in rallies. Both were extremely clever at killing anything .short. They broke down the deeper lobs and scored heavily off the short lobs. The opponents were unable to find their length. The finals will probably be played tomorrow.
