A MISSING DRAFT.
IS IT A HOAX? By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Received 22, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, November 22. Referring to a Perth message the officials of the Bank of New South Wales are of opinion that it is a hoax. No draft for £40.000 has been issued to anybody named Harcourt, and it is unlikely that such a draft would be unclaimed. Perth, November 22. Advices from London, dated October 25, state that aboard a Great Western Railway tender, at Plymouth, a bank draft was found for £40,000, payable at sight to Char! ?s Ilarcourt at Sydney, issued in London, in August, by the Bank of New South Wales. It was found after the tender had been used to land American passengers from the Oceanic. There was :io passenger named Harcourt, and the loss was not reported.
