"THE GEISHA." "Quite as good as some of the best professional shows and better than most," "The best amateur performance I've ever seen," "Couldn't imagine I was watching an amateur performance," "Good enough, to tour New Zealand! with,", "Well done New Plymouth,"— ■these were some of the remarks heard afterthe last perforamnce of "The Geisha" ifiere. Many of gur townsmen went the night more as a matter of duty, but did they enjoy themselves : ;iKat they not only turned up again the Vecond night, but they say they wouldn't ;hay(j missed it at any price. It says a 'ijreat deal for a performance when' it ijiraws a record crowd the second night. ¥nfl it's the best possible advertisement ■"the Society could have. The man in the street is a keen critic; there are no half pleasures with him, and generally speak•Jijgi he pays his money and thoroughly Intends getting his money's worth. "The Oeiflha" gave him his money's worth. When the curtain went up on the second pight a murmur ran through the house •which is difficult to describe. It reminded one of an intense stillness, or to put it in a better way, an acute 'ndrawing pf breath, a sort of "Well, well, who'd kave thought' New Plymouth could hare put on such beautiful scenery." The audience were pleased from the start, and as one townsman remarked, "I went there quite expecting to put in three hours of boredom, and more as a matter of duty than anything else, but got so interested that I was sorry when it was finished." The box plan will open at Collier's Music Warehouse on Monday, November 25, at 8.30.
