The head -warder was bringing food to the prisoners, when they seized his revolver and cut his throat, also that of his wife, who was running to his assistance. A prisoner defending the head warder received a dozen knife wounds. Troops arrived and found another warder in a cell with his head cut off. The prisoners withdrew to the second floor. Two barricaded themselves in a cell. The troops broke down the door and shot both.
