At a representative meeting of the Medical Association held to-day, by 9290 votes to 9269, it was decided to inform Mr. Lloyd George that any further proposals for meeting the profession's objections would receive the Association's consideration. Sir John Collie, the Government nominee, has resigned from his position on the advisory committee under the ance Act. He intimated that his presence thereon after the medical profession's decision was possibly open to misconstruction. THE HOME FLEET. Revived 21. 10.50 p.m.. London. November 21. Mr. Churchill, replying to a question. denied that the delay in increasing bluejackets' pay was due to the allocation of the money to medical benefits. Answering a question as to whether the presence of ihc lleet in the Near East weakened home defence. _\lr. Churchill declared that the. Admiralty was satisfied ' that the home fleet was sufficient for the gtiffitv of the country. _ ' THE FINANCIAL RESOLUTIONS. Received 21, 10.50 p.m. London, November 21. After the closure, the report on the financial resolutions was carried by 317 to 195. Mr. Balfour condemned the power to invest by the Exchequer Board, which would be able to establish protectionist duties inconsistent with the independence of the British and Irish Chancellor's Exchequer. Sir E. Carson challenged him to point out a single advantage that Ireland would gain by the Bill. All the Government wanted was to grant Home Rule. because it had to. Ireland would lose her power of borrowing under Imperial credit. Increased taxation was the Bill's keynote.
