SPORTING.
At a meeting of the Metropolitan Committee on Tuesday licenses were granted to the following:—Trainer, T. C. White; jockeys, C. A. Hood, Robert Gilbert and Ernest Croot; gentlemen riders, Chari«« J. Brough and W. W. Awdry. At a meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club Mr. H. Thompson wrote accepting the position of starter at the Christmas meeting, in place of Mr. C. A. Budge, resigned. Mr. E. Whittle's offer for the. publican's booth for the season was accepted. Five new members were elected', and" one resignation was sent in.
