AGRICULTURAL COLLEGES.
PRIME MINISTER DEPUTATIONISED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. A large and representative deputation from the Farmers' Union and various local bodies interviewed Mr. Massey, and asked for the proposed Agricultural College to be located in the Auckland province. The deputation enlarged on the need for scientific methods of treatment of the_ various soils in this part of the Dominion. The Premier said that the Dominion was much behind other countries, notably Australia and Canada, in agricultural education. Since the Government had advanced, the proposal for ail Agricultural College, financial considerations had prevented furthering the piojcct, but lie expected those gradually to disappear, and the scheme would be gone 011 with. The college must foe close, to one of the main lines of railway and easy of access. It must have not less than ,i) 0 acres of laud. The Government would select the best site in the North Island and in this connection would consult agricultural experts.
