A SYDNEY TRAGEDY.

8 WEETHEARTS RESOLVE TO DIE. Cable —Press Association —Copyright, Received 18, 7.25 p.m. Sydney, November 18. A tragedy occurred at Waverley today. The body of a girl named Hilda Gowan was found in the park with two lysol bottles alongside it. George Veitch, aged 18, was also found lying at home in a dangerous condition from lysol poisoning. He informed the police that he •nd the girl were sweethearts and quarrelled. They decided to poison themselves, and after praying swallowed the poison. The girl died, and he crawled home. A MYSTERIOUS CASE. DETAILS OP THE FATALITY. Received 18, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, November 18. • Veitch, in his depositions, states that be drank the lysol first, and became ♦WivioUß. The next thing he remembered was finding himself in the hospital. He has no recollection of what became of the girl. The doctor considers it improbable that anyone in Veitch's condition could reach home alone. His sister says that she heard two sharp rings at ■the door-bell, and answering it found her brother collapsed in the doorway. It was impossible for him to have rung, but he had been assisted home. A medical examination of the girl Gowan shows that she took a big dose, but indicated nothing that could explain the tragedy.
