TUG-OF-WAR.
There is a movement in New Plymouth to promote a .provincial tng-of-war in St. George's Agricultural Hall on show nights in February next. It is suggested" that the town teams he drawn from the trades and industries, say, wharf laborers, goods sheds. Sash and Door Factory, blacksmiths, Fire Brigade, and others and country teams representative of the various centres and districts. Prizes of £-15. £IS and £9 will probably be allotted to the placed teams. Mr. Brooks, of the Theatre Royal, has the matter in hand on behalf of the promoters.
