Afternoon Tea.—Mrs. Standish gave a very enjoyable afternoon tea last Wednesday in lienor of Miss Laura Brown, whose marriage is to take place shortly. Mrs. Standish was unable to attend and Mrs. Walter Bayly (her daughter) acted as hostess. The competition prize, which' was to make a congratulatory telegram out of the word '"congratulations," was won by Miss C. Douglas, and the putting competition, which was held on the lawn, was won by Miss Brewster. Amongst those present were: Mrs. W. Miss Irene Colvile, sister of the Rev. A. IT. Colvile, vicar of St. Mary's, arrived by the Rotorua at Wellington this week, and was'met by 'her brother' and Mrs. Colvile. Miss Colvile will make a prolonged stay' in New 'Plymouth. ' , Mrs. Ken. Webster has gone to Mangaweka to attend the wedding of her sister, Miss Olive Tansev. '

Mr. and Mrs! G. Eraser have'returned. from their honeymoon trip, which was spent in the South Island. Miss Olive Baker, having passed her final examination in connection with nursing, has left the nursing staff of the New Plymouth Hospital and is now visiting friends' in Falmersiori.. before, finally settling with her people in-Auckland. .Miss Cottrell, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss Munro,, Westown. Mrs. Leslie Webster, New Plymouth, has gone visit to Nelson. Misses B. and 0. Bayly, after spending some months in Auckland, have returned to New Plymouth. Miss N. Buxton is leaving New Plymouth to take up her residence permanently at Castlecliff.
