SYDNEY'S GAS SUPPLY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 15, 8.30 p.m. Sydney, November 15. In the event of a gas strike in Sydney there is only t\yo days' supply. THE MEAT SUPPLY TROUBLE. November 15. There has been a recurrence of trouble with the mutton butchers at Glebe Island. An agreement was reached to resume work, pending a review of the award, which has caused a cessation, in the meantime. Seventy-four summonses have been issued against the participators in last week's strike. The men now decline to resume work unless the summonses are withdrawn. One hundred and fifty are involved. The trouble is seriously interfering with the meat supply. IMMIGRATION. Sydney, November 15. Two steamers landed nearly 2000 immigrants to-day. RUSSIA AND AMERICA. Washington, November 14. The refusal of Russia to modify her attitude with regard to the passports of Americans and other than non-Russian Jews, threatens commercial relations when the existing treaty lapses. Russia contends that Americans must comply with the Russian laws when travelling there, including the laws applicable to Jews. The State Department countenances discrimination, heiicc the deadlock. Mr. Griffith is making financial arrangements for the Water Board, whereby the bulk of the thousand men threatened with dismissal will be retained. THE AUCKLAND CABLE. Sydney, November 15. The Silvertown will start at daylight laying the Auckland cable.
