EAST END RESERVE.
ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of the East End Bathing Reserve Committee was held last evening. The president (Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer) was in the chair. ANNUAL REPORT . In his annual report, the lion, secretary (Mr. W. H. Fletcher) stated: "I have the pleasure in stating that matters in connection with our committee are in a most satisfactory condition, as will he seen from the balance-sheet. The receipts, with the balance brought for-, ward from last year, total £lll 10s lGd, : and the expenditure £lO7 4s 4d, leaving cash in hand £4 12s fid. During the year , the committee have made considerable improvements. The swamp has 'been drained, filled in, grassed and planted with suitable trees and shrubs. The wliole of the paths have been tarred and sanded ami iron fences em ted at the ladies' and gentlemen's sheds. We are pleased to state, that the Reserve was visited by a very large section of both town and country visitors, and has become one of the most popular holiday resorts of the town. The comfortable facilities afforded for fresh and salt water bathing were the subject of favourable comment, and have been the means of a large number learning to master the art of swimming. In conclusion, we desire to thank both the local newspapers for their valuable assistance, and all who either by donation or manual effort have assisted the committee during the past year, and we trust that the coming year will see still further improvements," ©FFICERS ELECTED.
Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer (re-elected); h®n. secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. H. Fletcher (re-elected for third time); exeeutivc committee, Messrs. G. Griffiths, Stroud, Flanagan, Buttimore, Christian, and Jenkins; general committee, Messrs. F. J. C. Bellringer (chairman), W.' H. Fletcher (hon. secretary and treasurer), Stroud, Flanagan, Honeyfield, Scrivener, Davidson-,. Crawshaw, Christian, Griffiths, Knight, Buttimore, Kivell, Ward, Abbott, Smith, Boulton, Fcek, Jenkins, Lawrence, Beattie, Fitzsimmons, Gwillim. GENERAL . It was decided to call for the right of selling fruits, sweets and soft drinks on the reserve. The opening of this year's season and all subsequent' years was fixed for New Year' 9 Day. Mr. George Tweedie'e application to deliver a lecture on the reserve was declined. Picnic parties visiting the reserve will be granted the ground free «f charge, but will be expected to pay for firewood and other out of pocket expenses. The application of Mr. E. Smith, secretary of the Presbyterian Preachers' Union, for the wje of the ground on January 26 next wa# agreed to. Mr. Flanagan's donkeys -will be on hire at the reserve on and after November Application is to be made to the Railway Department for trains to stop at the East End platform when required.
