A THREATENED STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, November 13. A conference of the South Wales Miners' Federation at Cardiff reduced the leaders' salaries from £4 and £6 to £3 weekly. In a state of excitement, the leaders rose in a body and threatened to strike. A confused and angry debate ended in an abrupt adjournment. \ ATTACK ON MR. BEEBY. Received 14, 8.35 p.m. Sydney, November 14. The Worker newspaper, in a bitter criticism of Mr. Beeby, asks: "Is he bidding for the leadership of the Liberals? His latest utterances lead one to believe so." It adds that wearing the mask of Labor has done more damage to the cause of the organised workers in this disguise than the whole of the Liberal Party could do fighting under its own colors. There was a yawning gap in the leadership of the Liberal Party, offering surely a providential opening for Mr. Beeby. THE NEW SOUTH WALES COAL DISPUTE. Received 15, 1.15 a.m.
Sydney, November 14. Owing to the miners recently repeatedly idling at the mines in the Newcastle and Maitland districts the work of the joint commission enquiryiiig into the position as between the coal owners and miners has again been suspended. The commission complain of delays. The position is viewed with considerable alarm.
