Messrs. McEwan are to-day on page 4 advertising a fine new lot of summer footwear from the famous A. and E. Marlow factories of the Old Country, more especially for mea. One of the greatest attractions at the Carnival on the 21st will be the "Hidden Treasure" competition. Three prizes ■ are provided,. viz., £3 cash, a ton of coal provided by the Westport Coal Company, and fl. Orders for these will be hidden in different parts of. the town. Coupons will be on; sale entitling the holder to a photograph of the hiding places. .These photos will be issued not before 4 p.m. on', the 21st, and competitors will be allowed 48 hours to find the treasure. In Wanganui a few years ago a similar competition aroused great interest, more than BOoQ'tickets being sold. The purchase of a section is a sure way to save money. It can't vanish.. Sunnyrise Estate, situated in Vpgeltown, is subdivided and is to be sold by auction on the 27th inst. The sections hare 66ft frontage and afford a splendid opportunity. If you are stuck for somewhere to go to-morrow you will find an interesting exhibition of roses and other blooms at the Rose Show to be held in the Brougham St. Hall from 2 till 9 p.m. Every year the Horticultural Society make an effort to go one better, and, given fine weather, this year's event should make another step forward.
