RAID ON ALLEGED GAMING-HOUSE By Telegraph—Press Association. Christehureh, Monday. As a result of Saturday's raid by tin police, William Whitta, James P. Walsh C. IT. Hawken and Sidney J. Merfeld wen charged at the Magistrate's Court wit] having kept a gaming-house. Eigh others were charged with being fount on the premises. Whitta was finei £IOO, the Magistrate warning him tha' if he appeared again he would be sentenc ed to imprisonment. Walsh, Hawkei and Merfeld were fined £2O each. Th others were fined £3 each. THE WEKA REFLOATED. Napier, Monday. Richardson and Co.'s steamer Weka which went ashore a fortnight ago aiea Porangahau, was towed off by the Run on Saturday and made Napier under lie own steam, having sustained practical!' no damage.
